I found my way into a yoga studio in 2011 with really only two goals in mind; I wanted to learn how to breathe to help reduce my anxiety and the flexibility to touch my toes. In 2001 I broke my right arm which pinched a nerve and in turn led to me losing complete mobility of my arm and after so much physical therapy I went through the rest of my adolescent years avoiding using it out of fear since I never gained back strength in my arm. After I started a consistent yoga practice and modified a lot of it, I slowly started to trust myself and was actually able to build strength and mobility which I did not think was possible. Although yoga is and can be a rigorous exercise, what gravitated me the most was the unification of the mind and body. Throughout the past decade I have managed and worked in both the spa and yoga industry. I have found the one constant passion I have sustained over the years, apart from my love for photography, has been yoga and breaking the stigma that it is only for certain body shaped people and the preconceived notion that if you can’t bend like a pretzel then yoga is not for them. Yoga is for everyone from those looking for a physical practice to those looking to heal the mind/ body. I want to help people the same way the yoga community has helped me.
Yoga Bilingüe: Open to Levels and Languages
All levels mindfulness yoga session will be in Spanglish. This class is meant to introduce and celebrate diversity and inclusivity. As a first generation American it is so important to me to share my Venezuelan heritage. One of the things I miss most about home is the familiarity of the Spanish language. To crate a safe space for people to either feel a bit of that culture which could so easily get overlooked is truly humbling and magical.
