Rachel Fitzpatrick, FitZen Yoga

While being involved in organized sports growing up and then intramural sports as a young adult, Rachel yearned for something that challenged her physically. In 2015, she agreed to go with a friend to a free/ donation based yoga class offered by the Kentucky Yoga Initiative in Louisville, KY. It was in that moment she realized she not only loved the physical challenge of yoga, but the mental challenge it offered, the clarity and peace she received from moving her body. From that day forward, Rachel started her yoga journey on and off her mat.

Since 2015, Rachel has grown physically, mentally, and spiritually as her journey has taken the twists and turns with her in her life. When the spiritual aspect united with her, she knew it was time to share her practice with anyone and everyone willing to get on their mats. In 2018, she graduated from her 200 hour yoga teacher training from 502 Power Yoga. She has taught over 400 classes, led several workshops, and now resides in Stanford, KY. She currently teaches yoga virtually to her co-workers, at the McDowell Wellness Center and Plank on Main in Danville, KY.

If asked what her favorite yoga pose is, she will tell you. When you ask her the next hour/ the next day what her favorite yoga pose is, she will tell you something different. For she doesn’t love just “”1 type”” of yoga or “”1 pose””, because for her, its about the moment in time of her journey and with each moment changing, so does she.

Creative Sequencing and Primal Flows

Take a deeper dive into your yoga journey and learn how to flow with your body as it was intended. Creative sequencing offers yoga transitions with alignment and power from within; while primal movements bring out your inner animal to use your strength, build endurance, and create agility to make a flow.

This workshop is designed from your earliest ancestors to take you back to your natural functional movements. This will leave you with a full heart and open mind to let your inner primal animal roar!

The first 30 minutes will be spent introducting concepts, followed by an hour- long practice, wrapping up with reflection on how the concepts showed up in your practice. You will need a mat, towel, block, water bottle. Bring a pen and paper for reflection, as well as jotting down tips and tricks that you can use on and off your mat. Can’t wait to see you on your mat!
